DIN Sized Amp?

Hello,

I was wondering if ANY company makes a 2 channel (or so) amplifier that can be mounted into a DIN space?

My Car has 2 DIN spaces one will be used for my deck, and the other is undecided but I would really like to mount an amplifier of some kind in there to power my front speakers.

Anybody heard of anything like this before? Can it be done without too much or any modification?

Thanks,
Rob

Equalizer style amps are still available I think. Ebay would be the place to look. I used to have a Pioneer eq 25watts RMS per channel and that was a lot back then (about 23 years ago).

Equalizers, never thought of that I will look into them, although most I have seen do not have a built in amplifier. Thanks for the idea!

If i cannot find an equalizer to do what I want, does anyone simply make an amp small enough to fit into a DIN space? It does not have to be designed to fit there I can make it a cage or something similar.

Thanks!

look on ebay for an older Alpine or Clarion amps from back in the late 80's and early 90's. Many of those amps in the 25x2 range were small enough to fit in the din slot. Specifically, 3513's, and Clarion 402A which were approx 7 x 2 x 5 inches. If you can find them, which shouldn't be too hard, they are excellent amps and many are still just like new. I have two 3503's (18watts x 2) powering my tweeters and centre channel right now. They're from the early 90's and are still like new. That said, it would probably be just as easy to mount the amps under the seat, rather than stuffing them into the dash...not to mention, it's better to give the amps a little more air for heat dissipation. Anyway, my 2 cents.

Ultra Linear sells a tiny 2 channel amp made for small spaces or motorcycles. Smartass.bz sells them or check out their site. ultralinear.com UL103ab, its 4x3x1.5

I have an Alpine 3519 kicking around if you're interested, it's 5.5 x 2.25 but its 9 inches long, so about the same size as a regular deck, but a little longer...lemme know

Just get a cheep used deck with inputs and use it only for extra power.

I would look at panasonic, they had a few years back a deck that was advertised at I beleive 70 watts X 4 or 50 rms X 4. It didnt end up making that much, apparently closer to 35 but it's still more powerfull then anything else. I don't remember if it had inputs though.

I have the panasonic deck you talk about, it's advertised as 70x4, and 35rms x 4.. I don't know where you got that 50rms from but anywho, It's more then enough to make stock speakers clearer then normal decks, I can vouch for that, I've had alot of comments of the loudness and clarity from my stocks with the power from this deck, but to power comps, you have to amp it lol..
