I'm having a hell of a time finding a wire kit that has everything I want to what I'm willing to spend. Basically, I want to run 4 AWG power wire to a distribution block (I wanted to keep everything 4 AWG) going to both amps but it seems every distribution block has (2) 8 AWG outputs, WHY IS THIS?

Anyway, I found this kit that has the main 4 AWG power wire, 4 AWG > 8 AWG power block but for some stupid f****** reason it has "9" AWG power and ground wire. If I am running 4 AWG to the power block and (2) 9 AWG coming out to both amps, don't I want to use a 4 AWG ground? Why the hell does this kit come with a 9 AWG ground?

The power block it comes with isn't even fused either...

Ideally I just want to run 4 AWG to a power block and (2) 4 AWG to both amps. Can someone suggest a kit or something... I've spent a week planning this install and I'm frustrated...

Please ignore previous rant. I found the answer I needed. I MUST use 4 AWG wire throughout. The 4 ch amp I will be adding later is 80A fused and the other is 40A.

I just need to know what I can use as a distro block that will accept 4 AWG in and (2) 4 AWG out. I can't find anything in these local shops...

just run two seperate fused lines from your battery or buy a 1/0 kit that splits to two 4ga lines

That is the answer I am looking for but there is no place around here that sells 1/0 unless I go to futureshop and plan to spend $200 which I don't have...

Any ideas where to get a single 1/0 power wire? I can pick up the other kit with the 4awg and use that...

.....then buy your distro block seperate, you can buy a 1/0 distro block and have all the 4ga hookups you'll need on it.

I could but I like to have excess wire for when I connect the 4ch amp. Right now I am just gunna wire the mono and subs.

To break it down, I will have 2 amps 800W TOTAL RMS
Both amps combined max amperage is 120A (40 and 80 fuse)

I want to know if it will be OK to run 4 AWG power wire to d-block outputting 2x 8 AWG to both amps. Doing the calcuations this is JUST pushing the limit of amps per cable length/gauge. Obviously, it would be best to use 1/0 from battery to d-block and 2x 4 AWG but can I get away with 4 AWG > 8 AWG?

You will be fine with the 8ga, just keep it as short as you can.

Thanks for clarifying that. My last question (I swear) so 4 awg split at d-block with 8 awg to each amp so does this mean I ground both amps with 8 awg? or can I ground them with 4 since the main power wire is 4?

Thanks again. I've been reading forums and browsing every single car audio site for a week! Before this I knew NOTHING about this stuff. Installed my DEH-6900UB a few weeks ago, was surprised to hear how good it sounds on stock speakers alone, then the mission started to connect subs

8ga ground will suffice, just keep it short too. Always use the same gauge wire in and out of the amp.....yes you can install the 4ga ground but there's really no point.

This kit actually has 9 awg so I'll be using that. I don't know why it's 9 but it is! I'm going to keep it as short as possible. The block will be right next to my sub amp so 1' wire there and 2' to the second amp.
