Hi guys

i am planning to get a set of 6 x9 and a set of 6.5"

is it a good idea to have one brand for 6 x9 and another brand for 6.5 ???

i am planning to get a pair of Nakamichi for 6x9 and a pair of focal access for 6.5" is it a good idea ?? or i should just stick with one brand all the way ???

thanks

George believes that mixing brands can sometimes be a bad thing as the sensitivity will be different and this can cause major problems.

so your telling me that if I have a pair of blaupunkt 6x9's in the rear of my car and a pair of say pioneer 5 1/4's in the front dash it isnt a good idea that i have to get the same brand for up front as the rear?

george is right about Blaupunk but as far as mixing speakers, I dont see any issues...

If you want to match, thats cool, but some people just dont care about that.

I would say try to avoid the 6x9's in general, but some will also argue against that.

I would try to get the fronts put in first, then see if you really want/need the 6x 9's, usually you'll find front stage and rear sub(s) more than enough overall

PS- I have a set of the Focal Access from a couple years ago that I still run...I am VERY happy with them. For the money the y cost, I dont think any comps would match up, in my opinion...VERY Nice little set

The advantage to buying one brand of speakers is that they are 'voiced' the same (hopefully) which means they will sound similar if not identical.

Although not common, by mixing brands you could end up with an odd sound kind of like a pair of singers who do not harmonize well but sound fine when solo. Theoretically, the 4" and the 6.5" or 6x9 from the same line of speakers should all sound the same in the mid and highs and the only difference being the amount of midbass delivered.

hey guys.

the reason why i am considering a different 6 x 9 is because the access's frequency is 50hz - 18khz, compare to naka's 40hz - 20khz. BUT i've always quoted from others saying that Focal's measurement is always a bit conservative. if that's the case then i guess i will get everything Access.

George, I appreciate it if you would elaborate on these mundane statements....

I have ran blau in my past and put it in my friend's cars and trucks, etc. It has worked fine for them and it has worked fine for me.

When you speak, be sure to be back it up.
