I hooked three four ohm subs up to my amp and now the ****er goes into protection whenever it gets the signal to turn on. there is no load hooked to it, nothing seemd burned inside, i didnt smell anything or see smoke. hat happend i found out was i had a + on the negative wire pack and a - on the + wire pack for one of the subs. it was only on for ten seconds tops. it seems like the fuse at the battery is somewhat "bubbly" but really nothing serious looking. a little discolourd and hardly noticably warped. anyone got a clue wtf i can do ?


single wire going into box and everything spliced and connected proper inside of the box.

One thing to check is that you have a solid ground and the amp is getting 12+ v

But if the amp is going into protection with nothing hooked up to it.... the outputs very well could be blown....

I know others have run these amps down to 1ohm without breaking anything, but they are only supposed to be stable down to 2ohms....
(you had 1.33ohms hooked up)

BTW- reversing phase of the woofers isn't going to damage anything..... and if the amp is blown you should be sure that the subs and connections weren't responsible.... otherwise you could fix it and blow it up again......

this is a 1 ohm amp, not 2 ohm. if it goes into protect with no subs on it then check the ground, it's probaby not good enough. also check the fuses on the amp/in the amp if there are any. i think it has fuses on the outside.

it probably wanted to be like a sony and xploded

i would hedge my bet on it exploded
if it had a poor power or ground source the unit would fail to turn on

all the power and groudns are good. it gets 12 volt off and 13.8 when on. the thing was pounding a single four ohm an hour before i ****ed the wiring on the three subs up. thats why its perplexing me

Sounds like you had a short with one of the subs.... perhaps tinsel leads made contact ???

I would change out that front fuse if I were you.

Even if it looks like there is still a connection there it might not be 100% solid. Meaning you aren't getting the voltage/amperage that you think you are.

A starting point.. and probably fairly cheap to test. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
