I think everyone can agree that Alpine makes really good head units, but what about the rest of their products? I never hear about people using alpine amps or speakers. I was planning on buying an alpine amp (MRD-M500) but now I'm not sure because it's pretty damn expensive.

hmm...???

Most new Alpine amps are good performers. Nothing special about them though, and I would only purchase one if I got a really good deal on them as I find them overpriced for what they offer.

In the past, Alpine pretty much only offered entry level products other than there head units, but over the years they have definetly improved in all areas, I personnally think that price has always been a sensitive issue with Alpine, but their reliability is second to none. In most cases with car audio products "you get what you pay for".

My opinion is that is backwards. The past Alpine stuff was much better than the current at least for speakers and amps. They still have nice head units and processors like they have always had but I would take old skool Alpine amps and speakers (of which I own and still use some) way before I'd take the new stuff. Unless you want to drop huge large on the F#1 stuff.

Alpine has always had some pretty high end stuff, and it has never been cheap. I paid $900 for a cassette deck back in the day. Their Dynaudio speaker system was spendy. I would buy their stuff if it was an option.

I can't comment on the speakers but I did own a MRD M300 and I was very impressed. The digital tuning is very nice. It has an anti-clipping divice to set your gains properly and the digital crossover selection was very nice. I was very happy with it and highly reccomend it.

I love Alpine gear. Great value in the Type X speakers. Good quality amps, even better if you can get a deal on them.

What do the 5 slash marks mean?
