| Hi All..
I just had the biggest addrenaline rush i have ever had.. Im sitting at my computer in the front of the house, just monitor on, all other lights off in the house.. out of the blue my viper siren starts screaming on the car.. i jump up and look out the window 2 guys are running down the street, one wearing a coat with a white horizontal stripe.. i throw the boots on and run out but they are already out of sight.. I dial 911 on the cell phone and go inspeact the car, no damage, just simply set of my alarm by trying to open the door (dome light).. So i decide im gonna take a small trip around the local blocks.. i spot them, staying in the shadows i lead the police right to them.. the dispatcher tells me to go back to my house and wait.
So 20 minutes goes by and the police show up, first i inquire who they were, they can't tell me. understood.. they ask me if there is any damage.. I told them no as they never got into the car, no pry marks etc etc..
So then i ask what will be done,, they tell me they told them to go straight home,, and they are well known in town..
Now I become Irate.. Im like WTF? is that not attempt to break and enter, they tell me with no signs of damage the can't do anything, they could have simply tripped on the sidewalk and fallen into the vehicle.. so i did what anyone else would do,, as the car was re armed, i give the windshield a few hard swats.. i kick my rims with my steel toes, even jumped on my back bumper, im like they didn't fall into the vehicle, the shock sensor is not set as false alarms are a waste of time, i go into detail with him and show him that they tried to gain entry, showed him the features of my security system, and they said yes but there is no damage.
Then in the same breath they tell me i did the right thing by calling them, very good of me and how i handled the matter.. I am like you know i wish i could say the same thing but im dissappointed... 2 guys tried to get into my car, these 2 guys are as you say well known, you let them go home as a slap on the wrist and won't tell me there names.. I don't even know what they look like as I kept my distance so i would keep my cool.
The satisfaction I got is none.. well i can't really say that,, no gear missing.. BUT if there is a next time its gonna be different - I wont be the one calling the police.. i will let the ambulance attendants make that call.

| That sucks but the police everywhere can't really do anything about it. Even if they're caught in the act of it they usually get off. A friend of mine got his car broken into and they took his subs and a "unique" backpack. Two days later at a high school he saw the guy with his backpack. Day after that, he took a hammer and broke each one of the guy's fingers, took his wallet and told him if he ever sees him around his or anybody else's car or tries to get revenge back his buddies will come after him (driver's license has his address).
Anyways last I know, a lot of kids at that high school who broke into cars are now afraid to.
I have a camera pointing at my car at all times. Anyone tries anything funny with my car, I'm not going to be as leanient as my friend and stop at his fingers. [ May 27, 2005, 01:59 AM: Message edited by: Miluni ] |

| ^^^^^^^^Which means that the thief as well as yourself can both carry guns.
And if the thief doesn't have a gun or makes no attempt to use/show it and you shoot at him just because your car alarm is going off you get charged with attempted murder.
So what exactly is your point?
As for the police officers in that situation their hands are tied and yuo were correct to handle it the way you did.
Frustrating I know but just be happy the car is without theft or damage and call it a day. |

| Gotta be thankful you had the Viper, and your dome comes on when you lift the door handle.
Maybe they'll leave you alone now, since they may not know that you don't know them. Oh wait....they're stupid punks....too lazy to get a job and buy their own ride. I'd be buyin a motion light for your driveway, 'cause they'll be bored and looking for revenge in a day or two.

You do realise that he wouldn't have been able to use his gun, right?
When he finally saw them they were running down the street.
It's not like you can just start firing off shots because your alarm went off and someone is running away.

Belleville is a small enough town that I imagine that you and a few friends could find them and set it straight.

| I had my car 'almost broken into' recently as well, it sucks.
I haven't lived in the Windsor area for about 8 months. In that time, we got new across-the-street neighbors and I moved back about 1 month ago. About 5 days into coming back, I am in bed, reading (about 12:00-ish). I hear my alarm go off, I look outside, I see a guy run directly across he street and into the across the road house. So, next day I go over there and ask who was looking in my car (interior lights went off from handle pulling). They claimed that it wasn't them so I told them I will send in the tape that I get off my camera on the roof (we have a little box as an antenna amp but it LOOKS like a camera, kinda) and let the police decide. They told me it was their friend, noting at that time that one of the guys really flinched when I said tape.
So, now they leave my car alone. Tools. |
