| Hi, this is what i just bought, can you please tell me if im a /$?$tard or this should work properly.
2 subwoofer : MTX 12" MZS1204 claim to be 150-300RMS
1 amplifier : Pioneer GM-7300M
Here is the description of the amplifier on the web site I bought it: 800 watt high powered mono amp
MonoBlock Amplifier can power 1, 2, 3, or 4 subs.
360 x 1 RMS @ 2 ohms
250 x 1 RMS @ 4ohms
PWM Regulated MOSFET Power Supply
Screw-Type Speaker Terminals
Balanced Isolator Input Circuit
RCA Inputs
Speaker Level Inputs allow you to run the amp through your speakers to get a signal to the head unit
Input Level Control
Built-in Crossover : (40 Hz - 240 Hz)
Bass Level Control: 50 Hz
Dimensions: 11-13/16"L x 13-1/8"W x 2-3/8"H
THD at Rated RMS Power 0.03%
Preamp Outputs to power a second amp
Crossover is completely adjustable
Signal-to-Noise Ratio 80 dB
Bass Boost +12 dB
Please note, one of the major advantages of a mono amplifier is that you can hook it up to 1, 2, 3, or even 4 subs, and get equal power to each sub. Mono amplifiers are designed specifically for bass, so you can be sure you will get more bass power out of it than an ordinary 2 channel amp.
My question is....
So if my understanding is right I can run my 2 Sub at 250RMS(each) at 4 OHMS?
thank you! |

| No, 2 subs would wire down to 2 ohms, getting 360 watts out of the amp. 360 divided by 2 is 180 watts per sub.

| thanks the the fast reply.
One other question then would be, I see that my subwoofer are 4 ohms, it is okay to run them at 2 ohms?
And my Subs are suposed to be 150-300rms, what is going to happen if i only give 180watts rms to them?
thanks alot.. |

| There resistance is 4 ohms, meaning in an electrical circuit they represent 4 ohms of resistance. You aren't running the subs at 2 ohms, you are running the amp at 2 ohms, the 2 subs that are 4 ohms wire down to 2 ohms (parallel circuit halves the resistance). Your subs will be fine at 180 watts, and your amp will be fine at 2 ohms.

| Wow.. thanks
So everything should be fine if my amp is at 2 ohms..
Now the only thing I should wonder is if my subwoofer are going to be pushed enough with 180watts rms..
From the tech sheet of MTX
It say for my sub : Recommended Power Rating of 150 - 300 Watts RMS |

| That means anything in between 150 and 300 watts is sufficient. Sure, 300 watts would be louder, but 180 is a safe number. Make sure you don't set the gains too high though, amp clipping is notorious for making short work of low end subs...

| Can anybody direct to me a thread where I can find information about construction of my own subwoofer box?
I have all of the right measures from the MTX panphlet but, I would like to know some special things.. like what kind of glue to use, is any MDF good? Any trick for me?
Thanks alot |
