Ok I have 2 Infinity 1220 subs specs below. I =have a pickle of a decision. I dont know which amp i should get to power these subs. I have a coice of a JBL BP600.1 or a MTX 6500D amp. What do you guys think? Both amps are used but work and are close to the same price. Sub Specs Power Handling, RMS: 300W x 2 Power Handling, Peak: 1200W Frequency Response (±3dB): 22Hz - 800Hz Sensitivity: 92dB Mounting Depth: 6-1/8" Impedance: 4 Ohms Need some advise please lol [ May 05, 2004, 09:00 PM: Message edited by: Kwalsh24 ] |
6500d is a much nicer quality amp. |
OK thats 1 for MTX lol, I know MTX is good but sometimes there stuff canbe overrated, does anyone actualy own this amp that car tell me the actuall wattage it produces? |
Actually, MTX under rates all of there thunder product. That birth sheet on the 6500d I owned was 638x1 at 2ohm but they rate at 12.5volts. |
I like MTX, I personally think it looks better than the JBL too. |
MTX over the JBL product anyday. Mind if I ask how much you're paying for them? A used Crossfire or Memphis 1000D can be had for ~$300 which adds upgrading possibilities in the future. Just a thought. |
i owned a mtx 6500d its was birthed at 750 rms at two ohms it wasa great amp i couldnt have asked for a better a,p to run my twelves at the time the price was great too. |

I had the 6500D running three 6000 series MTX 12's in my last car. It ran very well, but I have also owned almost every JBL amp, and have 3 of them now. I think the JBls are cleaner, but the MTX might have the more overall power. |
MTX 6500! i've sold/used tons of different MTX amps and the 6500 was one of the best performers for the money, you'll be impressed with it. If the deal falls through the 600.1 is still a pretty solid amp, I have customers still rockin these, and they seem pretty happy with them...later |
