My system has 2 amps and the component amp is fine but the sub amp is cutting out at variable times. It is an Xtant 1001d powered under a 1 Farad cap. It is wired at 2 OHMs and it should be stable to 1. When the amp is cutting out the circitry protection light does not go on, rather the power light simply shuts off and no more sound is produced until the power light comes back on again.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Dale

Do your routine checks. Make sure there are no bare wires touching anyware to cause a short. Check your grounds. Check your conections to make sure they are tight. Check all of your power wire's, to and from the cap and or distro block. Check speaker wires, outside and inside the box. If all of that is fine, there may be somthing shorting internally with the amp. Are you sure its just not overheating and shutting itself down? How hot does it get?

This happened to me two weeks ago on my brand new kicker amp..

It would cut out completely and the protection light wasn't out.

I took a look at the fuse, and at first glance the fuse was fine.. But upon closer inspection, there was corrosion inside the fuse, that cut the amp..

I replaced the fuse for $2.99 and NO PROBLEMS!! all fixed up..
