so i have been in the business a few years now and i am confused.
is car audio/video remote starters alarms a hobbie or a career?

i would love to think of it as a career but unless you own the shop the pay is well ummm crappy ( at least in the east 8-10$ per hour)

i have a son and a house now to pay for and it is extremely hard to make ends meet. and it is hard to get a nother job seeing that i am working 64 hours a week and trying to have time for my son and wife. i like am just woundering like the guy reme and the guys from tv if they were not on tv how in the hell do they drive brand new cars and trucks

so i am really thinking this is just a hobbie in ontario. i dont think there is a career in it any more
i was talking to some one that has been in the business for round 20years now and even he said that the business it not was it use to be
he use to be doing 5000$ installs all day every day and now it is maybe 2 5000$ installs a month. i think car audio is losing its appeal. yes the avg brand new cars system is nicer then 10-15 years ago. and cars are coming with remote starters nav and the works and the price of gas so ppl dont get in the car if they dont have to .

i am not bitching i am just wounding what every one else thinks about the business.

yeah what he said! cost of living has been driven up so much that not many people can just throw $5000 into something like a stereo for the car.... and often people buy upgraded factory stereos then are soon left wanting more but because of higher payments they don't have the money to improve on what was already supposed to be improved... This trickles down, the store has a harder time making money and there for cant pay there employees as much, all the while the rent and property tax and what have you are increasing....

Answer to why sales have slummed at car audio dealers: EBAY!!! Plus other online stores. Dont forget the classified sections like Craigslist, plus the ones on car club sites
