as for the help somethings that help us help you is to know what you listen to? what you want from the stereo? any brands you might happen to favor? are you ok with used or not?

umm i like pretty much listen to everything but id really like it to be more bassy for rap and stuff but i also listen to metal so not completely bass. Id also like to have 2x12s and 2 speakers in the door and two in the back and then i dont know how the amp thing works thats where i get confused with the power and stuff. im not too sure about companies but i like rockford fosgate and jl but im not sure what the prices for those companies are like. I also came across a site called crutchfield canada and i was wondering if they are good to buy my system from.

crutchfield is great to buy from, they have great technical support, rockford makes really good stuff as does JL but you pay alot with JL for the name so thats something to keep in mind.

The amp(s) you buy depend on the speakers you buy, also depends on weather or not you want to power up the fronts, component sets are never a bad idea and there are some really good ones that can be had at a great price. If you want a really nice sounding system plan for 2 amps one for the sub(s) and one for the front stage get a good deck with hi voltage pre outs such as eclipse. When choosing you amps choose amps that match the speakers you buy power wise and its always better to have to much power, you'll hurt your speakers faster by not having enough power then you would by having to much.

Also keep in mind you are often better off having one really good sub then two not so great ones, you can buy all the crappy speakers in the world then some guy with 1 sub and 1 set of components makes you sound like crap, and you dont want that! hahaha your better off buying better gear and getting a little bit less then buying low level stuff and having more. Like one really good 12" sub and a good set of comps up front with two really good clean amps as opposed to a bunch of over rated no name stuff.

k thanks do you have any suggestion for speakers? the front doors are 4x6 and the rear speakers are 6x9. I have been looking at some speakers and they are the right size but it says they are not compatible, why is that?

for $2000 I would do one 12" or 15" with a mono amp and go a 4ch amp on the 2 front and 2 rears. Then get a deck you have tested by hand then you know if you would like it or not.
sub $400-$500
mono amp $400-$500
4ch amp$200
speakers$150-$200
deck$100-$200
$100 install gear
Bam a killer system hard to top
With a killer 12 or 15 like below whats not to be happy about LOL

thats sounds pretty good but im leaning more towards 2x12s and does anyone know why on crutchfield there are a bunch of different sizes of speakers fit my car and even within that size some are compatible and some arent?

sometimes speakers wont fit because of depth issues there may be brackets or plastic or who knows what in the way, the best thing to do is rip them out and take some measurements to see what you have to work with for total depth often a spacer of some sort is required to clearance new speakers as they usually have larger magnets, see how much room you have to work with.
