Hey Folks,

I used to set the gains via a CD with some test tones of sorts on it, But now, I have an amp on the way thats possibly a lil more powerful than what the sub needs.

Setting by tones on a cd was setting the max gains the amp was capable of with the voltage supplied. How do i take into account the sub now which may be the weakest link? Simply listening for distortion?

(I say the amp might be a tad powerful - only cause my box was originally made a lil on the big side to compensate for a previous lack of power.....3.5cu ft @ 31hz).

All useful feedback n suggestions are appreciated.

turn the gain all the way down. use a tone cd or music or something and turn up the volume on the deck to your regular listening volume as if there is no sub. basically turn it up to your satisfactory level just using your mids and highs. when the volume on the deck is set at whatever it is you turn it up to, you start to turn up the gain on the amp slowly. then you either stop at where you like it (sub is loud enough) or if you reach the distortion point just turn the gain back a bit.

remember your bass boost and sub out levels on the deck will have an effect on where the gain on the amp should be.
