| hi im a newbie to car audio and i decided i wanna do a Amped Speakers setup, like i want a lil bit more bass + sound quality without using a sub due to space in my trunk + budget. i was raeding around else where and came across this setup
"you could use the front speakers as mids and highs, and turn the rears (assuming 6x9) into essentially a woofer.
ive done this in a impreza and it sounded pretty good. (nakamichi front components and i beleive it was polk 6x9 for a bass driver.
for example, alpine type r components for the front and a polk 6x9, boston acoustics 6x9, etc. for the rear
make sure your amp has a selectable lp/ap/hp filter for the rear channels"
now i just need soem products recomendation so i can do this setup. i went to vission the other day and the guy recomend me some kicker componet, 6x9 rear + a big alpine amp. just curious, are kicker products any good???
all this set up i'll be in a 2001 honda prelude my budget is 1,500 all in with install. |

| You can get a REALLY nice setup on ebay for 1,500. Even a small 10" sub in the trunk in a small box, and some great speakers + amp to power it all is completely do able for 1,500! As for install....i'd personally take a nack at doing it yourself or finding a freind and pay him 1/2 what a shop would charge for install. Install really isn't that hard if you're willing to learn.
As for brands...i'd wait for another user, as i'm no professional (although i've heard kicker is okay) |

| kicker makes good stuff... but essentially what the guy that told you to do this is saying is this.
comp set up front. and 6x9 mid bass in the rear, mid bass drivers arent like normal drivers they are a bit bigger and do a much better job of delivering low end.. and yes you could then use a big 4ch amp to run it all...
if you are buying from visions heres a hint, on a regular price tag that put next to an item if you look at the bottom left corner of the tag there will be what appears to be a serial number or stock number... what this is, is the stock number and the cost price of the item this way the sales men know exactly how low they can go and what they will make without having to run and check store pricing... example. if it has KIK3456134 on an item tagged at $250 you would be safe to assume the actual cost price is $134 car audio has a huge mark up in visions so look for those numbers!!! hahaha and dont pay the tagged price! ever!

| if you're dead set against a subwoofer and want to use the 6x9's for bass. Look at dedicated 6x9 bass drivers, such as these: CVLW-69 - MID-BASS DRIVERS - Cadence Acoustics, LTD
or these; Parts Express:Tang Band W69-1436 6"x9" Neo Subwoofer
with a good set of front components, and a good 4 channel of about 4x100 watts rms, you can get a very nice sounding system with minimal installation headache and minimal hardware requirements. One amp, 2-6x9's, 1 set of front comps, head unit, and wiring...done!

| depends on the ones you go with. The cadence handle 150 watts rms, and the tang band 80 watts. If you go Cadence, then get a 4 x 150 watt @ 4ohm amp like the Alpine pdx-4.150, and get a set of high power components like the JBL c608 GTI that are rated for 150 watts rms. In fact that's a sample system;
1 alpine pdx 4.150--450.00 us
2 cadence cvlw-69---249.00 us
1 set of jbl c608 gti---329.00us
total-----------------1030.00 us @ woofers etc.. here's the link: JBL C608GTi MKII - JBL 6.5" GTi Component System
This would be a very nice sounding system, and would get quite loud even without traditional subwoofers. I have the JBL's and if you install them properly, you get a lot of midbass, and the tweeters are really good. CDt's are very good though, as are a number of components, so listen to as many as you can and decide which ones you want.
