if u had to ask about an ac-dc invertor or how to ground ur equipment, ur best to just leave it in the car!!!
in order to do what it is u want u need more than just a 40amp dc invertor. as it was stated these are not meant to run for long periods of time and get hot really fast, and i mean hot. u can run them on moderate volumes but not pumped for long.. ur better off getting a good home theator amp and a divx/dvd player and u will have everything and more ur car audio would have. home speakers are cheap used. check kijiji i saw a few good whole systems for sale cheap..
ill keep my eye on the news for a house fire in Markham over the next few days... hehe

The ground on the battery is the negative terminal (-)..

After having to explain what a ground is, I don't think your ready to build a ac - dc converter and transformer though ;>

Lolol. How about use search or look on the first page of threads for general audio. I definitely didn't before asking, but here is a helpful thread.

You seem to be confused about a ground? If you have a battery, hook ground on amp up to ground on battery. If you're in your room, whatever inverter you have will have a ground to which you can wire. Other than that, what is there to be confused about for the ground?

ok so i went to this computer store andhe said just to be safe i should get the 750 watt power inverter. so my question is how do i connect the amp to the inverter.
there are three wires ground, remote and +12 v
i think the way it goes is to connect the +12 v to the positive of the plug. and the ground to the negative. and the remote to the deck is that correct.
and i don't know alot about what i'm doin so i thank everyone who can help me.

If you're using a car audio deck, yes take remote from deck. If you were using something else to play music, you'd also put +12 to remote. Ground is always to ground, so the black terminal on the inverter. You can also take +12 and ground from the inverter for the h/u. Use RCA's from H/U to amp, then use regular wire from amp to whatever speakers you're using. If i missed anything, someone else will chime in
