| Instead of thinking of what product you want, think of what your budget is and work from there. I'd say drop more $ into an amp that's halfway decent. You can always work on subs from there, depending on if you want SPL or SQ. |

| If you want it to hit hard, go for a single 15", cause single 12" may not be enough. Instead of Kenwood, I would pick something like a Kicker L5 sub, and it does not need to much amp power to get loud. There are some nice deals on Kicker L5 subs, and Kicker amps like ZX750.1. If you get this package, you'll be good to go for some window rattling. |

As for recommendations, the only think I use now is RD. Not just because I carry them, also because i think they are excellent subwoofers. Loud, excellent quality, great equipment.
Sonance sounds excellent on rap music. Pair a 12" with about 900 watts rms and you will be good to bump!! |

| I run a single 10" sub for daily driving powered by 3200 watts RMS. It hits extremely hard, low, and sounds great with any music. Look closer at the quality of the stuff rather than just the diameter of the sub and the price. Keep an eye on the for sale section here for bargains on good used stuff rather than buying cheap new crap that you will only end up re-selling for next to nothing because you weren't happy with it.

| Guys, if he is looking at spending around $120 for a sub, size does matter. A $99.99 10" sub will not be able to handle 3200 wrms. lol |

| I didn't expect him to run 3200 watts RMS to a $99 sub either. My point here was simple. There is a lot of good quality used stuff kicking around for sale. Instead of buying a sub for $99 that will sound like a $99 dollar sub, why not buy a $600.00 sub for $100 used that will sound like a $600.00 sub. I think that many of us have have gone down this road before when starting out and we always ended up getting better stuff in fairly short order. I have a ton of junk stuff kicking around here that people had bought, quickly found out that they were not happy with it and yanked it back out, and it found it's way into my closet when I did a better system up for them. Another point that I was trying to make was that a pair of 12" subs won't necessarily play louder or lower than a good quality single 10" sub in the correct enclosure. My idea of what size of sub/subs to run was always more about what amount of space I had to work with in the vehicle, and what would fit and perform properly in the space alloted. Example: My little 10" sub will outperform many different pairs of 12" and 15" subs in both sound quality and SPL. It may have taken a few different box designs and a lot of tuning to get it there, but it's there.
