Has anyone used a DD 3515 in a sealed box application, or any other DD sub for that matter. I know they only recommend ported, but I was curious as to how they sound. I like the power handling, and the brutal good looks, but I'm limited in space, and would like to use a 15" in a 2.5-3 cube sealed box for sql purposes.

I have a DD 3512 I've used for spl for a while untill i upgraded. It's a wicked sub but kinda poor when trying to get the big #'s. So i put it into a sealed box for daily driving, about 1.5-1.75 cube and it's awesome. Loud, and fast acting since it's in a sealed. Always sounded like junk with the port.

We've been trying different things with the 9100 series. I have a pair of 10's in a ported box for SQL and I hit 142 until my deck starts skipping.
We also have a G37 with two 12's in a sealed box doing really well in IASCA SQ.
As for the 3512's, we use those to grind out mid 140's.
If you look on the soundpressure.com forum, I'm sure they'll have an answer for you.

from a 15 in a sealed box to a 12 ported you will have alot more output , personaly the DD subs suck in sealed because of your limited airspace , try stuffing the box with pillow fluff it may make it sound better. What kind of car do you have ?? I might know stuff about your equipment you dont

it's a 2003 Nissan maxima Se. SPL is of secondary concern. I just like 15" subs and the relative ease with which they play very low frequencies. If they DD can sound good sealed, then I don't mind trying to dedicate another 1/2 a cube to the box, about 3.0-3.5cubes max. Thanks for the replies so far.
