More watts won't help if the other stuff is overlooked (bad box etc). Google 'subwoofer efficiency vs power handling'. 1250W won't blow up a 1000W woofer, turn it down if you hear distortion, it's that simple. Some speakers that are rated to handle 1000W, people are putting 3000W on them and it takes it just fine. Some woofers are highly underrated, others highly overrated.

Post the model number for the subs that you have and we can look up the specs and box recommendations. As far as overpowering a sub goes I personally like to run an amp close to double the subs RMS rating of the sub, but there are correct and incorrect ways of doing this. Headroom can be a very good thing.

I did say it was a little too much power for the SUB not subs, due to the fact i have ran these subs before and they are overrated. And i also said i have had 3500 watts to 1 12 premier before and it was fine it is all in your dialing. When someone asks if a 1000 watt sub can handle 1500 watts i automatically say no because many people do not know how to properly dial in their amps.

Pioneer does not Over-rate their products i have been using them for sometime and they do really get serious loud ... i used to have Premier SPL series but some guy made a good offer for the two so sold it to him biggest mistake done by me lol .... But the new premier is made the same but built in compression quality , i do believe they produce 1000 RMS .

Im telling you if you put 2000 rms on them in a box even bigger then 3 cubes their toast. And if you know so much about the subs, why in the hell are you asking for advice on them? Their subs are all over rated other then the TS-W5102spl and 8102spl, i didnt say they were garbage, just that their loudspeakers are overrated.
