DC-DC converter is a power supply that converts DC... like 12V to +/- 15V necessary to power up most preamps circuits.
DAC = Digital to Analog Converter. necessary for CD players, DVD-A players, etc. Most DAC are build in the CD player it self and only some high-end units have outboard ones. Basically converting the digital 1s & 0s to analog audio from the CD transport.
