Alpine PDX1.1000 amp going to protection :(

ok so Im gonna be as detailed as possible so we can try to find me a solution.

I have a Alpine PDX 1.1000 amp and a 12" Type X sub dual 4ohm coil

• Im running stock battery and alternator.
• I'm running 4 gauge power wire to the amp and grounding with 4 gauge.
• The battery to chassis ground is 0/1 gauge
• The amp has 4 25amp fuses and Im fused at the battery with a 100amp ANL fuse
• I've checked all the wires, no shorts or anything anywhere.
• I measured the sub's coils to check the ohms, and each coil is reading 3.8ohms which is fine. The sub's jumper setting is set to deliever a 2ohm load to the amp. double checked the wiring and measured and i am getting a 2ohm load at the amp.

when this started happening I had the stock 8awg wire ground fromt he battery to the chassis and it kept on happening, changed to the 0awg. problem still there. then I checked my ground from the amp, and scrapped the shit outta the paint to make sure I had a good ground...still going into protection.

now, I read that what can be happening is the my charging system isn't keeping up with the power the sub is putting out therefore sending my amp into protection, I read that a capacitor may solve my probem.

Also Im connecting through my stock subwoofers signal for my line output...Im using a Navone LOC.

Also my gain is at 0 (default setting), if I do turn my gain down the amp wont go into protection, but then the sub barely hits...even at 0, its kinda weak...at a 1/4 or 1/2 more than zero is where it really hits good with no distortion but then it (amp) goes into protection.
ANY IDEAS??? lol

My guess is that your sub is wired incorrectly!

either your battery is VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY bad

or something is up with your sub.

Start by going to a place that checks Batteries and Alternators

Check your ground, check the impedance on the speaker wires ends that connect to the amp. Check if any wires are touching each other! Change subs, to rule out the amp! That would be the key right now to test your wiring!

You could also re-config the sub to be 8ohm (yes less power) but it could identify the problem!

Also what is the rest of the system? Head Unit Maintly?

Im gonna try the 8ohm config on that sub...hopefully that will tell me something...

Also my ground is good...I check the impedance at the wires end and it was a bit over 2ohms, something like 2.1 or 2.2

What is the head unit?

Ok 2.2 is good - Double check the ends (at amp and at sub) - if there is even one strand touching the other wire it can be the cause. Take a Flash light and go through everything with a fine tooth comb! Make sure your ground has bare metal - no paint!

If there are no wires touching take it to get your electrical system looked over!

actually its a off the stock headunit (05 acura tl), Im connecting at my stock subwoofers speaker wire using a Navone LOC

If you have an iPOD try using that as your main source. Portable CD player with a headphone jack will work too. - Anything with Volume Control.
- get a 8mm(headphone jack) to RCA and use it as the source to test.
- turn off the car completely
- turn the volume on the iPOD all the way down, plug in the iPOD cable to the amp and turn on the iPOD to the song you want and pause it.(this will prevent popping sound.)
-Turn off the EQ on the iPOD to flat or off **important**
-Turn your car on and play the track at 3/4's volume(on the iPOD) and listen to the sub.
-Make sure the bass is not distorting and farting.

If the amp doesn't shut off then your problem is either your line driver or the way you wired it!

Just out of curiosity why are you running nice gear on such a Sh!ty deck? For $200 go buy yourself a deck and ditch the stock Head Unit

LOL...Im running it off the stock deck because my car comes with the navigation, so there really isnt any where to put an aftermarket deck...also the mids and highs on the tl are really good...the bass was just lacking! 5.1 surround sound and it plays DVD-Audio, great sound.

Im gonna definitely try the ipod idea...Im hoping its the line driver, much cheaper to replace
