| For 2 Alpine Type R 12s, do I go with...
The retail Alpine Type R box which is single chamber and single ported...
Or do I go with another box which is double chamber, double ported?

| mono amp or running stereo?
if mono could go either way one way to look at it if you do 2 chamber and you blow one sub you will still be able to have bass while the blown sub is out for repair/ warranty.
if running stereo then the amp prob is not putting out the exact same power to both channels so the subs will be not being pushed eactly the same they will some one cancel each other out.

Good point you made about being able to still run with only 1 sub with a dual chamber. Never thought of that.
I've heard people say always go seperate chambers, but never really understood why.
The only thing that comes to mind, is that the single port will have alot more air moving in it from the doubled cone surface area.

I don't know what else I can do with it? | if you are doing this for shows or a day to day
are you doing SQ or slp
there is more to why a box is good
i do not like 2 subs in one box
i would do a mono load to your amp
and i would have 2 chamber
or a 4th order

SQL type sound is my goal. Sounds good AND loud.
My new amp is a monoblock anyways, so I don't have the option of going stereo.
Again, someone who says not to go with a single chamber... But you don't say your reason why?

| if one sub is going nfg it can kill the 2nd sub
and when the sub does go it will make the othere sub work too hard and will kill the sub soon after
i did not look at your sig and justing you to tell us what your need is helps us with what we tell you (by you telling us a SQL box for a Daily box trlls us a lot {ok})

| I think the whole idea behind the dual chambered box is as mentioned... if one sub dies in a common-chamber box, the other one is faced with twice the volume and hence, a whole different tuning (assuming its ported like you plan), so the chances of it dying as a result are increased.

| So lets say one dies, and the second is faced now with double the volume, does that push the tuning frequency up, and put the remaining sub at a high risk of unloading?
