hey guys. will the 1/4 wave theory work if your doing a wall with 2 subs in a suv or truck? for a 2 woofer wall, where should the port be, and the woofers placed?
I've heard slot port opposite mic, and subs vertical inline with mic. is this true?

somewhat true. check out what the leaders have at www.termpro.com and/or www.iasca.com. checking to see what others use gives a small clue on to what works. but remember that they don't just build box and put it in. they work at it over many years to get it where it is. good luck

From my experience and know how from others. the 1/4 wave theory doen't work.

The most important part is finding you car's reasonate frequency and how the subs interact with the car. The ONLY way to test and find this out is to test with a mic.

Yes you are right 2 subs verticly above each other and the port on drivers side typicly works the best.

As far as more detail then that you are out of luck. It's all about the testing.

If you could make the vehicle into a perfect box, you could rig it so all 3 axial modes are resonant at the same frquencies... just use multiples of length...

Ie. 10"x5"x5" SPL van burped at 56-57hz... and put the mic in a corner where all 3 dimensions meet...

There are also tangental and oblique modes that ya might want to consider... but hey, I haven't heard of any SPL vehicles that were perfect boxes anyway...

And that's why the 1/4 wave thing doesn't lend itself so easily....
