ok.. figured this would be a good way to help ppl on this forum... everyday i will try and post an SPL tip of the day! here we go...

March 10/05

ALWAYS make sure you you take all tools, screws, and ANY LOOSE items out of your subwoofer box beofre you burp your system! I found this out the hard way! i had a roll of duct tape in my box, which lost me .3-.4db's. No one noticed until the day i was leaveing after all the shows.. While you perfrom SPL testing, always try to make sure you have a steady climate, and temperatue while doing so for all your testing. Humidity, Air Pressure, Temp, can all effect the mic, and alter your scores different. I know the old termlab was VERY picky about stuff like this, and it seems the presure mic is also somewhat sensitive to changes in climates. If you test ina 24/7 controlled climate you will find results to be alot more accurate, and testing a lot more effecient. (i do understand that not eveyone has a shop or place to regulate this, but when we did, AS you cna tell.. we tested ALOT of different things! )

Well... my brian ain't working yet today, as i just got home from T.O... but here we go..

when you hook up your subs, and amps, make sure you have the correct impedence load, on the amplifiers. I have seen ppl try to hook up a dual coil in parellel, instead of series, and "POOF" there goes the amp, cause it was loaded @ .5 ohms instead of 2ohm

solution to this.. get a multimeter, and learn to sue the "resistence" control on them

"A 5 dB noise reduction is about 30% quieter and represents a 50% decrease in the risk of hearing loss!"

the threshhold of pain lies @ 140dB's as well.....

i thought this would be an intersting point for today! imagine what sitting in a 130dB vs a 150dB system is really like?
