| but with a ported box your car will peak differently.
your peak will change with the box. it doesnt matter what the car is peaks at, it's all about the box tuning.
this might be true, but not very usefull for SPL, especially if you have a meter. |

| I have been told the same thing, my cars frequency is 46-49hz. We tested that with a sealed 8 or something, how ever if u tune your box higher it will hit higher.. so I dunno LOL.
BTW Yuli is new so he cant help you

| i figured that the spl mic would tell you what the peek of the sealed box was and not the car so i didnt even waste my time to try it out lol kinda thought it was far fetched for spl

| it will only work if the Q of the sealed box is proper and the box has a perfectly flat response...in order words it won't work for every sealed box it has to be done right. Even then that is the note your car naturally wants to peak at with that box in that position. When you add a port to the box the volume usually is larger, which displaces more volume in the car, the port and sub are usually not in the same physical location because they can't be in the same spot at the same time so some variables are changed which makes it close but not exact which is why the only way to do it is trial and error and tuning and testing the ported box to see when its loudest

| When Doing This You Have To First Make A Box That Plays As Flat As Possible
Then Add Wood To It So Its Aprox The Same Size And In The Same Spot You What The Spl Box To Be .
Then Set The Meter Up And Do One Note At A Time Writing Down Everything.
Ie. Frequency Vs Spl At 100 Watts
Then Take The Same Box Set It On A Stand, With No Sides Or Bottom, Making The Box The Only Reflective Surface (in The Biggest Garage Possible)
Run The Same Frequencies, Same 100 Watts Writing Down Everything Again,
THE MICROPHONE HAS TO BE SET UP 1 METER FROM BOX
Then Compare The Loudest Frequencies That Have The Biggest Gap In Spl
Ie. 57 Hertz Is 129 In Car And 121 Outside Car, Even If 58 Hertz Is 125 Outside And 129 In The Car. That Is Your Peak Frequency, Ladies And Gentlemen

| What about the calculation method? Just measure the length of the inside of the car and divide that into the speed of sound to get the cars wave length? Is that too old school and dosen't apply to the pressure mic?

| In street i NEVER could change my note! Didnt matter what it was 10" sub or 18" sub, ported with 2 6" aeros, 1 4", 4 4" or slut port, box position, volume, driver or paort placement, vent length, nothing changed my note ever!!!
Now in SS it is easy to change but the cab still has its natural peak. |
