Question for those in the know... is there anything to be gained when running subs IB if you front load them?

by front loading I mean firing the subs into a tiny chamber that is open at the front with a wide flareout to eliminate wind noise.

just thinking that this could privide some added control for the drivers.

I'm going IB as well Sassmaster. I dont think the the products will be the same but probably wont matter. I asked a similar question to the engineer of the woofer that I'm using. He simply stated that I would get all the control I would ever need with the IB setup I am planning to use. If you worried about hearing cone movement, that might be a different story.

It works ok, but you have to reverse the phase on the driver to keep the suspension loaded...in that application.

Sound from the front of the SUB will play at the chambers tuned freq probabbly upper midbass...and the rear will play the lower 90hZ-20HZ freq's...it is well worth the try.

Why would one have to invert polarity on the driver? It moves both ways..

This 'loading chamber' as described is a front mounted horn and, as mentioned above, would be so short that it would amplify only midrange frequencies. Experiment if you wish but IMO you likely won't get the results you are after.
