| I've actully heard a few one seat cars that sounded really nice with the tweets on axis to the drivers seat. But if your feeding your tweets lots of power I wouldn't suggest using a really low x/over frequency. I used tweets as low as 800hz in my pillars, but I wouldn't recomend it (even it you have a unit with a low Fs).
If you have the ability, give you mids a cabinet of some kind. You will generally get better midbass response compared to IB. I've found that in cars with speaker placements like you plan to do, you generally get a decent sound stage height, but the stage will probably drop on the drivers side when lower notes are being played (like a male voice).
