Tuning Frequency - whats too high?

Im in the process of building a slot port box, to mtx specs. When I put the data into winisd, it gives me a tuning frequency of 43hz, would this be too high? When I tune it lower, it looks like they both peak at around 55hz with the one tuned to 43hz having a 7db peak? Should i tune it lower? Which one would you choose? I mainly listen to rap and hip hop. (red = 35hz, yellow = 43hz)

anything in the 30-40hz range is good for rap music/daily use, if your going for compition, 40-60hz

Please don't post curves like that in the SQ forum....

I usually aim for maximally flat response

It's mostly personal preference, but for an SQ or SQL oriented box I wouldn't tune above mid-high 30s myself. But to each his or her own.

From a straight SQ point of view the red plot is flatter and has more extention and is the supperior plot this should excel at a music forms

The yellow plot has inferior performance (louder is not always better in SQ)but will give a more excititing presentation

I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

I'd tune it to 35hz.

I prefer to tune in the 'teens, lowest I've done is at 11 Hz, and I liked the sound of that box a lot, except that there was too much airspace, next time, I'd force tune it lower, or, if you want to lower the tuning, stuff part of the port with polyfill, and keep it in place with chicken wire or something similar, or put an aperiodic membrane in the port to "fool" the port into acting like it's longer... even better, put 2 aperiodic membranes in the port, with a slightly enlarged section between them to resonate and lower the tuning even more...

just what I've seen and experimented with.

That's my oppinion, it's worth what you paid for it.
