Hey guys,

OK, I've got a rockford mono amp running 2 -10" Alpine Type R subs in my trunk and a 4-channel rockford amp running the 6x9 Infinitys in the car with a premier deck and a rockford cap connected to the amps. I've had the system for about 2.5 yrs now.

I've recently noticed when I have my subs turned off, according to my deck, once in awhile I'll get a couple thuds all at once from the subs. Sometimes it's only 1 thud and then nothing and other times it carries on for a few minutes. It's very intermittent and random from what I can tell; it occurs both when in CD and Tuner mode. The bass also sounds extremely distorted and loud/powerful all the time.

I took it in to a car audio specialist and he thought that I blew the subs, so I went and replaced them...nothing has changed, it's still occuring. I'm thinking it may be the deck now, but am unsure...would like to get your opinions before I make any more significant purchases. Thanks for any help you can send this way !!

you can do one or two things

try,see if you get power off the deck to the subs in the rca's to the sub

look at your wires

see if your rca's are in need of replacing

Rcas are the signal wires for carrying a low level input from your cd player to your amplifier. They are the wires that carry the actual music signal. You may be running high level inputs rather than low level (rca). This means that your speaker wires actually run to your amplifier rather than an rca cable.

Rca cables look like a/v cables for connecting your tv/vcr/dvd player ect.
