What are Capacitors ?

I have seen a few people mention them, and I did a quick search on google about them. I was wondering if I would need one, and what advantages there are with them ?

and IMO you dont need a Cap, just do the Big 3, better battery or/and add another battery, and a HO alt ......then id go for a cap just for the look haha

A capacitor is a device that opposes a change in voltage. In this case it tries to maintain a steady voltage during electrical dynamics (i.e. a loud stereo pumping out bass). The capabilities and value of a capacitor in a car audio application are an item of continual discussion...
