I just picked up this awesome sub and enclosure for an insane deal, $340 after taxes down from $599 before taxes from Visions in Winnipeg. I now need to know what my best amp for running it would be. Specs are 720wRMS and 1500peak. I think its a beautiful beast, but then again I'm new to the car audio scene. Polk Audio db212-2

What is your budget for an amp and what is the final load?

With a final load of 2ohm I personally would be looking for something in the 750-1000rms range at that impedence.

Which amp depends on your price point, physical size, and features of the amp.

A DLS A3 bridged at 2ohms is a stud of a amp at that load and a quality piece. Just a quick suggestion.

Hardwrkr any idea where I could find those in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or even Canada? They do look very nice. My price range though is under $500 after tax and preferably as cheap as will run these nicely. I want to see infants explode when listening to this thing.

www.elementaldesigns.com has some nice amps that aren't too spendy.

the NINe.1 is 900 RMS @ 2 ohms, for 350 US

A3's gonna be around $450-500USD from a US dealer which would be the cheapest way to get one. It's still going to be over your budget of $500Cdn though.

Look around for a decent price on a Pioneer PRS-D3000SPL also which would be a great choice that can usually be had for a great price.

Also there's a Orion 2500D on this site here
http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/online/car-audio-sale/23363-orion-h2-10s-2500d.html
Which will do more than enough at 2ohm with 1200rms there (set gains correctly and you'll be just fine) and has tons of extra balls if you decide to get higher power handling drivers in the future. It's overkill for sure with basically only using half of what the amp can do but it's a fine amp that could be had for a great price (try to get it for $450 or less).

There's a couple more suggestions for you.

The max current draw on that is 130amp, and from what I know my alternator on my 97 coupe cav is only 105A. Will it blend?

don't worry about "blending", you aren't going to use all 130 amps from the amp all the time im fairly sure. just do the appropriate upgrades to your electrical system = big 3 wire redo and you will be fine.

Those look like great subs for a cavalier. Polk is usually good stuff!
MTX TC8001 would give you a 800 rms @ 2 ohms.
750 canadian or 308 US. Make any sense to you?

I went looking for pictures from my old cavalier, sorry, can't find them.
