that's really arguable, especialy if you bold out sound quality.
flexibility wise it is top notch tho.

Can you be more specific, type x? 1000+ are you talking about F1 status speakers?

What I wanted to say in the prev post is that some purists consider other units better for pure sq. That's all.

When making something like the F#1 product, a manufacturer will make decisions regarding parts and processes with no regard to how much extra that part or process costs. They are focussed on performance and just add the cost to the bottom line. This way you get a high performance product but have to pay the high performance price too.

The sticky wicket comes in when one tries to place 'value' against the extra price.

You buy a truck, it has 4 wheels, 2 doors, a engine, a radio, 2 wipers, 2 bucket seats . Similar specs correct? How about all the other things that the specs don't tell you....Is a Ford a GM? Specs can only tell you so much, especially when they are sometime not made on the same playing field.

specs dont tell much of the story when you are dealing with audio, unless you know how everything was measured.
Total harmonic distortion, for example... everyone lists THD at 0.001% or whatever, but do they all use the same testing procedures?

the only advice i can give you about F#1 is to listen to it, which is MUCH easier said than done.
I have only heard one car with it, and it was a lambo gallardo. absolutely glorious.
the owner suggested i bring my favorite "real" non-burned cd, and i did. i heard things in the music that ive never picked up on, for instance in one passage, you can hear people speaking in the background.
on most systems, it sounds like wind, with most of the F#1 catalog i swear i could almost understand the words.

as much as anything else though, the performance is in the set up.
you will NOT buy F#1 from the dealer down the block, it has to be an approved alpine dealer who is trained in the install and set up of the gear.

very nice, very very expensive.... worth it?
maybe.

would i buy it if i had the money to throw away?
probably.

what does (barf)mean?
And to the original question, capacitors don't have anything to do with SQ, maybe aesthetics. And if I recall correctly, focals do win many competitions.
