Ok, so, I know I have been asking a lot about these subwoofers but this next sub that I buy will be the sub that takes me through college so I have to make it count. I was getting ready to buy a 12" IDQ when I realized that I could buy a 15" hahaha. (The soul purpose for selling my two 15" kickers was because I could only use one and I would have to sell the other but they would be easily sold as a pair, so I sold them and am now buying a single 15")

So, with that said:

How does the sq between a 15" idq compare to a 12"? I am sure the 15 will get louder but sq wise, does the 15 hit every single little note like the 12" supposedly does? I listen to a lot of techno so I want my subs to be really punchy and I thought a 15 could never do that but I started thinking, maby image dynamics do? IF I DO BUY A 15" WILL THE BASS SOUND SLOPPY? Which one do you guys recommend, 15 or 12? Thank you very much guys.

dude seriously go read up on the subwoofer speed.
it's all in the box. you can make it sound whatever you want. 15 would be a good choice. if you go sealed, it's pretty conservative on the box size to get good results in deep extension/midbass kick.

The cone material also plays a role in the notes that it can hit and the SQ of the sub.
Lighter is better.

lighter can be better but it really has more to do with how the vas matches up with FS...

There is no point in having a driver with an ultra light cone and high efficiency rating at 1khz if it rolls off at 80hz and you want a subwoofer.....

for the most part a speaker is a speaker... good sound is all in picking the right one for the application and designing a proper box....

The sub sloppyness has been covered in discussions here, the favourite 10s/( 12s) vs 15s topic is explained. Just skim through the search.
There's no diff if it's the same model line. It's all in the box design.
Nuff said, just get the 15 and build a proper box for it.
Mr.gleepoy had experience with 15s running sealed, so you can either ask him or search his older posts and he might go more in depth about various box sizes. You also have IDs recommendations on the site.
