| The sound in my 02 RSX sounds horrible. I'm not looking to spend a lot, I don't need anything super loud, it's just gotta sound good.
Under $500 total, is there any brands/models you would suggest for a HU and a pair of door speakers?
I've looked at a few models, talked to a few retailers, but the range is huge and it's hard to get a good sense of what it will sound like in your own car. |

| Where are you located? My suggestion would be to take you car to a local shop or, if possible, one of the vendors on the site. They would definately be able to guide you in the right direction and more than likely teach you a thing or two...

| Sonic Electronics is not a authorized dealer of Focal and with the growing number of counterfeit speakers making their way from the far east to the US market, they need to be sold somewhere. Counterfeit items are everywhere and Focal is no exception and has both been noted on their site and I have indeed seen one set of counterfeit speakers in person. The quality of the knock off was amazing and to you the user, you would never know the difference.
Do you have a amplifier for the new speakers? You can fit a 6.75" set of component speakers in the door of your RSX, I would be looking at that size and not a 5.25". Do you have a cd player right now that you can use, to me it makes no sense to put a cd player in there and then only have enough left over for a basic speaker system. Buy a good set of speakers that you will keep and add the new cd player at a later date when the $ allow.

| For $500 I would look at a nice $200-300 set of speakers - either good coaxials or a component set and add a 50-100 x2 amplifier for them. Keep the factory deck for now.

| What do you guys think of the Polk DB6501's? They seem to have pretty good reviews. |

| Take the system a step at a time. Buy good component speakers, then add the amp, then add the cd player. Do it a step at a time and you will be guaranteed a highly predicatable outcome. Sometimes buying the deal is not the ideal way to go. I would far rather have my customer buy good equipment that he will keep and add to, rather than replace because the wrong equipment was purchased the first time.
