Alright found this old sub, brand new and for a relative great deal. Does anybody have any experiences with eclipse subwoofers??

Basically I'm doign just a single 10, in a sealed box, approx. 0.75cuft. Overall I would like to stick into the SQ field.

From what I've been told is that this was a high end sub build for spl in small sealed enclosures, does need quiet abit of power, looks great. Now was told that for sq it pretty good and is way better than and 8w7. It retailed for $699 in 04 for when it came out, cost was abotu $315 and teh price I got was $150ish +tx.

Now I put this in consideration that the any other sub I looked at for SQ was in hte Hertz line, energy $130 or the Hi-Energy for $240-250ish. I'll be using an Audison LRX 1.1K for power.

Help me out, what do you think, should I look at something else or is the eclipse at so good of a deal that it's hard to pass up and it's a great sub.

Take the Eclipse, put it in a sealed box of maximum 1.25 cu.ft and sit back and relax. It is a great sub.

The only feedback I've had on the Eclipse subs from the guys at my local shop is that they've been having a fair amount of them come back with cooked voice coils. Seems to be an issue with the venting design they indicated. I was looking at the 8800 series (I think it was) and that is how we got on the topic. I was recommended the 7500 MTX for similar duty.

Just my $0.02

I have not had a aluminum sub come back for cooked coils ever. If that particular shop has, chances are that they were setting up the amplifiers incorrectly or using far too large an amplifier on them. It may also be the customers abusing their equipment at the same time. This is a TC Sounds manufactured sub and the design is more than time proven.

That may be the case. They merely indicated much better durability out of the MTX 7500 line but I didn't quiz them as to what was going on...

Yeah i was just gonna mention that I saw the TC Sounds TC-1000 and the design is the exact same. Basically I'm looking at getting this eclipse sub for $150, and if there's something better in that price range for it then i'm all ears but the only other sub i had in mine quick was Hertz Audio's,
Energy ($130) or the Hi-Energy ($240),

where as I never have used eclipse b4 and i know they do make great head units but for subs, this would be a first if i bought it. But i figured i see what ppl think about them. also this sub retailed for $699 in 03/04 and the shop is just blowing it out to get rid of it.

I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.
