| Well, my faithful old Pioneer P1 has finally died on me, and I'm in need of a new HU. Does anyone have suggestions on a good sounding unit that can run high/mid/low internal crossovers? I separately amp my mids/tweets so this is a very important feature for me. A good EQ section is a definate plus.
Thanks in advance. |

| I like my alpine 9855. Maybe look up its newer replacement.

There are others, but those two both seem to be pretty decent. |

| The Eclipse CD7100 and the Pioneer Premiere DEHP880PRS are both great cd players. Eclipse has the handle on more bells and whistles in this case, price shows it however. Your budget will reflect the cd choice.

Some have had issues with noise, so I highly recommend a fresh ground to chassis.

| I had the P1 and LOVED that deck. It was faithful to me for 5+ yrs.
I replaced it with a Alpine 9835 and I still liked the Pioneer better. So much so that I sold the Alpine for $250 less than what I paid for it after just two months. The worst part was the deck introduced noise into the system that I could not tweak away.
Swapped in a Pioneer 7500DVD screen but the fan noise in the background drove me crazy so in went an Eclipse 8053. I liked it much better than the Alpine. Better preouts, better EQ (Alpine's PEQ are locked into too thin a frequency range), much easier user friendliness.
CD mech went on the Eclipse otherwise I would still be using it but it got replaced with a Pioneer 880PRS. I am very pleased with this deck and I feel you will be too. Picture you're P1 with a MUCH better EQ and you'll get the idea of what this deck is about.
I recommend the 880PRS and for the cost it's hard to beat. |

| Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I'll take a good look into these units.
After taking a closer look at the DEHP880PRS, in it's owners manual (from the website) I can't seem to find 3-way crossovers. Can anyone who has this HU confirm that I can do a Sub LP, Mid HP, Mid LP, and High HP?
Edit: I think I found the function I'm looking for on that unit, called "Network Mode". I'd still really appreciate if anyone could confirm that for me. Thanks!
