Hopefully someone can help me here.

My sub is going quiet then loud or vice versa. I will be driving and take a sharp turn or something and my sub will go quieter for a second or two and then go loud. I took it into where I got my stereo installed and of course they couldn't get it to go quiet. Also, one other thing, my sub makes noises even when I have it off is that a problem?

Yeah, it is.

Sounds like a bad ground or signal (Loose/Not bare metal touching/Bad spots for ground wire.)

Is the amp and box bolted down?

When you take a sharp turn and it goes lower it is due to voltage drop from your power steering taking it, so like bronco said it could be a bad ground, posibly your electrical cant keep up with all the demands of your stereo when you drive your car.

ah I never actually thought about the electrical system not being able to handle it. Sometimes it goes lower when I go over a bad bump too though but that could be ABS or traction control or something kicking in. My lights have never dimmed. I only have one amp and one sub. The amp is a M-605? and the sub is 12" Type R. So could it be my electrical or just a bad connection?

Check your wire connections, while the system is up and running do a 'wiggly-jiggly' of your wires (ALL of them power, RCA, speaker) and see if you can reproduce the issue. Does the affect happen on L turns/ R turns/ brake application/ bumps etc, since that is what you need to reproduce because this is a mechanically induced electrical problem.

And I bet your installer didn't take it for a ride did he... shame on you

The problem could be in the trunk with the gear or even in the dash... or even inside an amp or speaker box.

I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

Well I got it installed in January I believe and it worked perfect untill around May when I started to notice the bass going lower at times. So I brought it in and it ended up being the fuse. It was fine untill around July.

It sounds to me like a loose connection. Pull your sub out, check the wires. Check your ground.

Ensure that nothing is grounding out. If it is happening on bumps and turns, it has to be a loose connection.

Also, check to see if the wires on the sub itself are still connected properly.
