New Speakers Needed

Hello All,

New to the site and think it is great and full of resources.

I am getting a 2008 F350 and need to set up my stereo set up from my old truck, but I am in the market for a new deck, which is going to be the Alpine CDA-9887 but I am unsure of the component speakers to get. Some help in this area would be nice.

Currently have a 4 channel alpine mrv-340 amp to run the new speakers off of. It is a 4 channel amp but I am thinking of bridging it to the front speakers as I do not need/want any rear speakers. Is this wise to do? It is rated at 4 ohms bridged but can do 2 ohms or 4 ohms un-bridged. I have been looking at several speakers. Namely Alpine SPR-17S and Infinity REF6820CS.

My budget is around 3-400 bucks.

Any suggestions on this bridging thought or running each amp channel separately to the tweeters and woofers (can not remember the actual term for this.)

Help please!!!

Oh ya – BTW, My sub is a custom built 12" pioneer shallow mount run from a 300 watt RMS JL audio amp.

I like bright sound but not to much. I listen mainly to rock and classic rock

I'm not a big fan of Alpine type r speakers I find them way to bright as for the infinitys I'm not to familiar with them (although some I've installed over the years I have liked). A 400 buck budget tho does give you some options a few good manufacturers make some decent sounding comps in the price range Focal or Morel are good examples. I'm not sure where to look for Morels last shop I worked at (speaker city) sold them but I dont know if they currently do as for Focal I sell them at my shop. I'm sure one or more of the vendors here will speak up and give you some good options as well

Your amp will work fine bridged to run any of these as well but I would not. I would run the factory rears off the amp as well but gain them low as not to detract away from the fronts

Morel are top notch speakers. While you truck is a 5x7" (6x8"), you can easily upgrade into a set of 6.75" component speakers or go into what is called a pointsource 6x8" speaker as well. This will solify the front end for you. If this is a crewcab truck, speaking from experience as I drive a F350 Supercrew, I really like rear speakers in it. If it were my vehicle, I would have rear speakers in there and a good set of fronts and amplify both of them. Need more info, drop me a line at the shop, 1-888-881-9911 after 12:00pm our time and we can go from there. MSN works really good as well, forbidden@telus.net or leave me a name and number and I will call you back after hours.

I would also add Morel in that mix. If you want to make the drive to Mississauga I could let you listen to them.
