I use Scan Rev mids in my car. Very nice stuff for sure. I looked at the Hybrid product. And while they have had much sucess in IASCA (and other orgs), I'm still not convinced that there arent better buys out there. I could do an all Rev setup for the same price. Which to me is less of a gamble. I did hear most of their cars at finals this year and the product is good. I was just hoping it would be less expensive. Although, if you can find a good deal on line?????

hmmm B&W... nice mids there... may have to go out and tear up a set of Bowers and Wilkens
You're close...The midbass Alma, Mark (and many others) used in their cars is the JBL 2118H. Awsome driver...efficient, plays quite high, and it'll make you blink with the right music. The 2118J s the 16 ohm version.

I personaly use the Veritas Accubass 8", it was based on the 2118 and sounds quite similar. Wouldn't trade them for anything...

Yeah I saw that and it's a damed shame. IMO you could not buy better speakers at twice the money. I worked for a dealer at the time and managed to weasel a set from their parts dept.

I know that there is no way I could have bought better 'car midbass' for what I paid for those.

If you want lots and lots of midbass, I'd look into a set of CDT ES-06+ woofers. I have a pair in my car, and they're just soo much fun to have around. I don'T have any subs right now, but most of the time, it doesn't really matter. I have a HPF on these at 45hz and low passed at 125hz.

You may also want to check out the CDT ES-07 woofers too. They have less excursion, so won't go as deep as the ES-06+, but, slightly more detailed midbass. (still has plenty of punch). That's what I have playing from 125hz to 1KHz.

I used to run them 63Hz and up, and they did a great job. Nice punchiness, very detailed. But, for the range you're going for, if you want a ton of kick, and don't mind (albeit a very very small amount) sacrificing SQ, ES-06+ won't disapoint you. Or, you can look into the M6+ if it's too pricey.

Yeah, depends on how you look at it...

The 602 was my best selling bookshelf by far, but everybody likes the 685 (its replacement) better - WAY better midrange and top end... less bottom end but I don't mind the sacrifice personally.

Anyways, guys, seriously, look at that 803D Rohacell mid. I replaced one and have the defective one (due to bad solder joint for the leads) in my home demo room to show how fantastic of a driver it is - its THAT freaking good!

The Hybrid audio technologies, L6 is actually a 7.1 inch mid, and the L8 is 8.5 inches, These speakers to me are the best for the money, IMO, I am looking forward to competing with them in 08. On another, note I will gurantee you that you will not get more technical advice/help with a speaker company, then Hybrid Audio Technologies, Scott Buwalda is an awesome guy and he knows his shit, Big Time! So you may think you are paying a lot, but your not, you are paying for world class products and service!!! I believe that I read that they are having a world domination sale, L6's can be had for like 399 us I think??? heres the linky, http://www.buwaldahybrids.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2801

no Al, you can't ditch em, because I got to hear those speakers that win a show after a show.

get em installed, go to comps, let people hear them, if you don't get shiny trophies, rip em out and here we go again .
