Just working on my front stage right now with speaker placement, trying to find the optimal firing direction for the best possible imaging and sound stage along with tonal accuracy and great width, height and depth. Would like to get some of your guy’s options on this matter. Here is what I have so far. I have the Focal 165Ve3 3-way component set. I have the 6.5" mid-bass driver in the door factory locations, and as of right now I have the 4" midrange driver and the 1" tweeter sitting on a baffle in the kick panel area. Last night I tried firing the tweet and mid off axis (firing towards each other) and also tried firing them to the dome light. Off axis I’m getting a good center image but losing some detail. Tried keeping the mid off axis and putting the tweet towards the dome light and vice versa. Not really finding the sweet post. What do you guys think?

Also I have noticed the image has dropped lower to about center console height not really liking that.

There really are no set rules to tell you how to place your speakers. That's why everyone recommends just playing around with your gear in different spots.

When I'm placing speakers, I generall start totally off axis in the kicks and then go from there. But with that said, I find that on axis will give you the best preformance from most speakers. In a car there will always be comprimises. You just have to choose which ones your willing to make.

try using a chunk of sticky puddy on the back of the tweeters
so you can freely move them around..you will eventually find
the sweet spot that your ears like..

sounds good i'll play around with it some more tonight. How about working with each speaker at a time. For example adjust the 4" speakers until i get them where i want them, then do the tweeters?

That can work well.

What kind of car is it? While you still need to experiment to find what is right for you, there is no shame is copying what others have tried to see if you like it. No point in reinventing the wheel.

Be careful what you wish for...

I drive a 2004 Chevy cavalier Z24. The problem is every which way i try it, it all kinda sounds the same. I'm using the iasca comp disc with the imaging tracks. It seems to be working well. I'm going to try firing the midrage at each other and the tweets towards the sunroof, see what happens

I'm adding to this thread since it's been inactive for awhile, and my question is very simmilar...

I've got an interesting scenario in my truck. (4runner actually, lots of sound space!
I've recently purchased a 3 way eclipse set (5.25Woof, 2"Mid, 1"Twt) and plan on adding these to the front stage via a ton of fiberglassing. I've also replaced the two 4" factory's in the front/lower dash by the doors with proper two-way Eclipse upgrades (25rms running from the 21rms deck), and get a nice low stage from them. To continue, I've fiberglassed two custom formed boxes for mounting on the rear ceiling to help equalize the stage slightly, and have Q-series MB Quarts in them.

So now technically I will have 10 speakers in the front (If you count the coax's as 2 drivers each with neo tweets in them), and where should I put them!
I saw a picture of someone who had fiberglassed boxes for his Mids and put them on the dashboard in the corners. I thought of doing this with a mid-tweet set for esach corner, and mounting the 5.25's in the doors angeling upwards...
Any ideas anyone?? what would you do??

2xtape on the back of the tweeters try the a-pillers about 4" up then move it so it hits the glass or at the glass play hear it then move it so thay are aimed at you not center of the car
then try on the door at the top nere the apiller
with the mid's try the stock place the try them in a small box in the foot wells try then moving them up,donw aimed at you so on
whistlersound if you are at the show on the 15th i will look at it i'm to gone now
