Hey Guys,

I'm currently working on my front end setup and so far I have come up with this setup. 6.5" focal driver in the door. 4" & 1" focal mid/tweet in the kick’s facing dome light (not permanent just in temp testing baffle) and was thinking of adding a tweeter in the A-pillar. I was just wonder what you guys think of this idea and if there is anyone out there who has this similar setup. Of course before I mount anything I’m going to test the placement and axis and move things around until they sound good but from all my research and testing I’m thinking this might be a pretty good setup just wanted to get some feedback. Everything is running off of a 4 channel Audison SRX4 I will put the 6.5", 4", 1" on a passive running from channels 1 & 2 and add the second set of tweets on channels 3 & 4. This way I can cross then over at a different point and will have individual T/A for them as well.

Let me know what ya think….

Thanks
Frank

Hi Frank,

If you are looking to move your image upwards, you can use a second set of tweeters, my recommendation would be to cross the tweeters over, significantly higher than your tweeters in the kicks.

Also, i have found that when using tweeters for the purpuse of pulling the stage upwards, it is best to face them right at each other, but, this could be different in your car.

Best thing to do is, trial and error.

Running them on the same x-over point and having music from 2 source points will be challenging to make sound good, why not upgrade tweets....what focal tweeter are you using now.

I have the TN 47 focal tweeter. I'm going to use different X/O points for the tweeters. My main tweeter will be in the Kick panel and the a-pillar one will be X/Over at about 7khz and higher just to bring the sound stage up because right now it sounds like I have a speaker mounted to the face of my head unit. My goal is to push the sound image up and back to the far bottom of the dash ( the far center of the dash of course)....

Adding the extra set of tweeters won't help you with your depth, but may help your height. Depth is a psycho acoustic problem. I've found the best way to help depth is to ensure that your right and left side are the same.

If you have an EQ, you can try boosting 2khz a bit before investing in extra tweets.

try moving your tweets up on the pillar facing each other they work best like that. What set of speakers do you have? I have worked with many focal spekers

Is yyour set with the 4" slim mid? If so depending on how much room you got you can make some nice pillar mounts for the mid and tweet.
I've done this numerous times with great results
