| Are you the dude who was working part-time at Andre's and picked up all their old stock F#1 stuff off the board? If so, I'm sure you know Dave O there has a ton of experience tuning those kind of systems, but if you are on your own with it you should know and respect the fact that you have a TON of processing power available to you. The most important thing to know about that statement is you may not need to use any or a large part of it. I would hope and expect you have some knowledge of basic system tuning so that what I say next won't lose you. This is what I would do in a nutshell if I had that kind of system:
- get everythign hooked up and working
- set your amp gains first. Put them all at the middle sensitivity position as a starting point
- make sure all of the EQ and time-alignment settings are off
- since you have a 3-way front end and a sub, choose your basic xover settings at 80 Hz on sub @ 24 db slope, midbass set at 80 hz highpass at 18 db slope and 400 Hz lowpass at 12 db slope, midrange at 400 Hz highpass at 12 db slope and 3500 Hz lowpass at 12 db slope, tweet at 3500 Hz highpass at 18 db slope
DISCLAIMER TO THE SQ TWEEKS: these are basics to start from. If the guy has no clue where to start setting his system at, this gives a starting point. If you are all up in arms about it, go read some online tweeter reviews to chillax
- listen for tonality first and adjust gains, then xover points, slopes and THEN maybe EQ. Don't worry about imaging and soundstage quite yet. Get it working tonally first.
- adjust gains first to get the overall levels of each speaker balanced properly ie. turn the sub down if too loud or simply lower the xover point to say 50 Hz. That kind of thing.
- everybody has a different method but you so many different ways to tackle this. I would go from simple to complicated.
