Ohhhh and i forgot as far as my jl rear coax speakers, i am in the market for a set of focals to replace them, now iv been looking into possibly getting another 3 way component set. Is this a good idea, or should i stick with a 5x7?

I would not suggest using rear speakers if SQ is your goal. It can be done, just way more work.

Larger subs would be more beneficial in a larger car. So if your car is big go with a big sub or multiple smaller diameter subs. The focal subs are very good. But you could get as much or more performance from less expensive products. When I purchased the speakers for my car I based my decisions on each drivers singular performance. I left the brand name at the door. I don't get paid to advertise so why would I care what the brand name was. Your install can make even the least likely products blend in with the car.

With little to no budget in mind, my personal favorite sub would be the JBL 15WGTi. It does everything well. But its pretty big. I ended up using the Alpine type X in my car as it had almost all the performance of the GTi and was much less money at the time. The ID Max is a good choice as are many other products. Peerless make a great SQ sub that is actually affordable.

Get it installed right and you can't go wrong with any of the choices mentioned.

Don't kwow if you can get a Peerless XLS sub WITH an XLS Passive Radiator? It sounds great, go's beyond low, and a very low distursion.
The other subs wich where discussed are all unknow by me...

Good luck

Not sure if this has been addressed - would sealed or ported be the better way to go for SQ?

It depends on the sub and his T&S parameters... You have to simulate.

there are no standards for a SQ install, so eighter closed or ported ar SQ IF the sub feels good in a closed or ported box.

What kind of amplifier are you going to put down to your sub?

Creative Sound SDX15?
Very good sub, and definitely the cheapest option mentioned so far.

But with everything else being Focal, a matched system would be the way I'd go.

Right now I've got an Audiopipe GM502 that'll be bridged mono, so prolly a single 10 - nothing outrageous - I'd like to match it up with offerings from Audiopipe, kinda like the one piece cone series.
I just got an Alpine CDA9835 used, not installed yet........if for some reason the decks is a dud, I've got my eye on one of the Pioneers...

my fav is the IDQ from Image dynamics, it certainlty is not the most expensive driver either.. if you can find a BNIB IDW that would be the ultimate!
