I was looking through a VRX catalouge and seen them....holy friggin sweet. Except the stupid strip of wood grain down the middle, but oh well.

Anybody have one of these?

I think I'll ask Santa for a VRX6x420 and a VRX1x500 for christmas this year.

I sold the Audison stuff at one point and they do make a very nice SQ amp. The price tag has been their biggest obsitcal though. They have always wanted huge money for their stuff.

IMO Audison made an amp that was far superior to any Coustic product out there.

Sling, if you have the manual you will see that the VRx amps come as just an amp. There are no X.O.s or any other fancy controls other than independant left and right channel gain controls. There are however, a plethora of optional modules that you can install. They range in price from about $170 for the BTX-2 to about $360 for the HL24.

The VRx EX amps (also known as Chrome Shadow) come with every expansion slot filled with modules. Depending on the amp, it could be from 4 to 6 modules. (just a rough estimate) The EX amps have their entire heatsink chrome plated, except it's not that bling bling chrome...more of a deeper pearl type chrome. It's extremely impressive in person. The amp even comes with a set of cotton gloves to handle the amp when you open the box. The EX amps also come with a 4.5 metre Audison Balanced Line Cable, which requires the BTX-2 (not included) to untilize. This proprietary connection has to be seen to be understood, but here it is in a nutshell. All VRx amps have the ability to run a true balanced differential signal in and out. The connector is a modified RCA type terminal that has 3 conductors. It accepts both normal RCAs and the Audison ABC cables.

The Audison VRx amps are built better than any other car amplifier that I have ever seen. They are on another level, similar to Krell or Mark Levinson in the high end home audio world. The design and build quality is simply amazing, these are rock solid amps. I sincerely believe that you get what you pay for with these amps, but they are expensive.

I bought my VRx amps because of how they sound. I had other less expensive amps at the top of my to-buy list. I felt that the price of the VRx would not justify the performance. That was prior to hearing them. The VRx amps blew me away with incredible dynamic punch and control that rivals some of the best home amps I've heard. (and I've heard a few of those) These amps put goosebumps on the back of my neck. They are beyond smooth when pushed hard, and have a slightly warm coloration to the sound that makes them absolutely liquid with classical music. The VRx is the current cream of car audio.

There is something better coming, but I can't talk about that yet.

The above amps would be a great combination for a totaly active 3 way front stage and almost any subwoofer combination.

I also currently have an Arc Audio XXK 4150 in my system. (just got it) It's not in the same league as the VRx amps, but it's damn close to my ears. If you can't quite afford the VRxs, the XXK series will astound you.

What can you guys tell me about the SRx line?

I have heard them at the local dealer powering focals, but I don't know anything about this series of audison or how it compares to other products. Any info/comments would be awesome, thank you!

(My friend is thinking about getting one for a set of polyglass focals.)

Yep. Very good stuff. I heard them next to some Zapco C2K's about a year ago and was very impressed. I ended up going with the C2K's due to resaleability. However, if I was in the market again I would love to hear the new TRU stuff. Their C7T tube amps really seem to be impressing the Elite Car Audio guys. Apparently, they also have a true class A model now too for a mear $5000US. Yikes...

If I may jump in here for a minute. Audison is awesome gear, there is no doubt about it. Only thing I'll throw at that is this............ don't expect that Audison amp that you just paid huge bucks for will automatically make your system come to life. It doesn't work that way. If you're going to play up there with the big boys, please make sure that the rest of your system and install is up to par. If you spend all your cash on an amp and nothing on the rest of the system and install, some guy with Pioneer system or similar may walk all over you in SQ. Spend your money wisely. Mr. Adam there is all high end and rightly so is running Audison as it balances with everything else he's got.

On another note, HUGE power seems to be all the rage. I heard a rumor that someone at spring break did some big butt kicking in SQ with a very low powered system. Apparently it sounded incredible. Anyone else hear about this??? Now that's the stuff I'm impressed with.

Just to throw a tidbit in, my VRx2.400 has a pure Class A module in it. [img]smile.gif[/img]
