processing(eq'ing and time alignment) is the last thing that should be done after level matching, setting x-overs etc, but in the harsh environmaent of the automobile, it is an unfortunate fact that processing of some nature will be neccessary to achieve, the best sq possible, and by no means does building kick pods make getting good center image with depth and width, and escecially decent tonality a snap, time alignment gives you the opportunity to get decent sound(aka good center, height etc)in the guy who doesnt want his kick pods and speakers to get the crap beat out of them after he gets in his truck after a day of snowmobiling, dirtbiking, quading etc, you can use a factory door or dash location and achieve 1 seat sq that sounds better that alot of vehicles with pods for far less $$$, i get a kick out of the people who dump on t/a, this is the same guy who will build a set of kick pods .1 cubic ft and stuff a 800$ set of components in it, funny

Well most of the system is JBL. I'm using Crown amps a Gti sub and a Gti 6" in the kick. I am planning on using SEAS tweets in the A pillars. I know that keeping your drivers so far away from each other cam be a bad thing but from all the car I have heard most seem to sound better with the tweeter mounted in the A pillar.

What do you think???

I'll agree with that but sound moves about 1.13feet per millisecond so that would mean a pathlength difference of about 20" before it was really audible. Most cars keep it to under a foot.

I am old school - it has to sound good from both seats.

oops wrong math on my part, in a car 20" can be as much as 20 or 30% differences in small vehicles, quite substantial, would you agree, plenty enough to smear an image or bias it

so then a speaker 4" in front of you and the other 6" will be radically time shifted? I mean, one is 50% farther away!!

are you being an a-hole or is that a real ? if it is a real ? than yes it will be time shifted and biased based not only on time but level

Hey I just like to get people thinking. I'm not trying to fight with you Dave but just offer a counterpoint.

Seriously though - take your computer speakers and set them up like that. I don't think it is gonna make a difference until you get over a foot difference. My experience anyway.

But then I never really meant to get into this discussion here either.

My only real point was that it has to sound good from BOTH seats for me

you just worded it it like a a-hole, if i take one speaker put it 6" from me head and take the other and put it 26" " from my head there will be a pretty serious difference
