Darn right it's a bonus. My old Nak amps had independent gain controls <4 on the PA 350> It was a bit of a pain -- it took micro adjustments to get 'em just ever so right -- but worth the trouble. Most people wouldn't care and might be a little worried about the gains not being perfectly matched, which of course defeats the whole purpose of having independent gain controls...... that didn't come out right.

What was this thread about again?

^ Dave, USAC goes by the 12v rating (if available)..

The alpine website isnt clear on this.. it says 2 ratings:
12v=75x4 and it also says:
12v=50x4..
which means your usac power rating is either 600w's or 400w's. So you CAN compete in 1-600.. Or if you choose to, move up to the 601+ class.

you learn something new everyday, i never did look at the power ratings on the website, for some reason i always thought that they were 100x4, i suppose i could go in the 0-600 class, thanks for correcting me

i just went to the alpine website, and it says 100 watss per channel at 14.4, where did you see the 12v power ratings, i looked for them but couldnt find them, and i can remember how usac rates the amps, at 12 or 14 volts and their website isnt clear

Indeed I was. Talked to Jason mostly and a bit with Donny. Nice guys. I was told the Celica is the g/f's car of a guy who owns all the F#1 gear and was going to put it in his truck but figured his g/f's Celica was a better comp car? And don't you have to attend and win at shows first before going to Finals? Not saying that it won't but it just sounds like it can go to Finals without having to win at local shows first lol. Does USAC have a min. point requirement to qualify for Finals? I remember IASCA having one.

Dave, Go to alpines website, find the page for your amps. In the middle of the page you will see a blue button with "more info" on it.. click it.. Now look at the bottom right of the page, you will see more detailed power ratings.

Im not sure why there are two different 12v ratings.. You should check your amps manual, and put a copy of the ratings page into your install manual (So there isnt a repeat of last year )

Yeah usac's website isnt very clear on 12v/14v anymore.. Last year i remember seeing "at 12v's" in the rules.. This years rules are not clear.. Ask james i guess.

sux, the gf is paying the bill for the install and the dva7996 and the pxah900, so i guess its a shared project, the gf will be doing the presentation for the car at all shows, and yes you do have to qualify for the finals with points accumulation, which shouldnt be a problem with this car

chev, found it but like you said it isnt very clear and niehter is the usac site, oh well not a big issue, just gives me another option i guess

Dave i did some searching. It looks like for this year there taking the highest published rating.. which is indeed 100x4..

I think with the new power ratings, USAC should of raised the power class split to 800w's instead of keeping it at 600w's.. Be a more even split.

Wish they would change how they classify mono blocks as well.. but o well.
