For a 98 Mustang Coupe. The cars got two 5 x 7's in the front and the rear. I have a 4 channel Alpine MRV - F340 amp to power them. I've been told I can put in 5 x 7's, 5 1/4's or 6 1/2's in. What do yo think I should put in? Components in the front Coax's in the rear? And what brands do you recommend?
Any help would be gretly appreciated as I really don't know.

i would go with a set 6.5" comps in the front and nothing in the rear but that is just me for the brand find something that that you like listen to as many as possible and get what sounds the best to you

I've owned a couple of 90's mustangs and had excellent sound in them using 61/2 comps(jbls) and the stock(mach 460 coax which is made by jbl i believe) 5x7 in the rear. I also had 2x12" kicker comps in a ported box with a total of 500watts rms to the system. It sounded great for fairly cheap. The amps were kenwoods, which I think are pretty good for the money.

So 6 1/2 comps can go in no problem? Also what kind of difference do kick panels make compared to just putting them in the doors?

IIRC that generation of Mustang is tight for KPs. I would avoid them unless you have size 5 shoes or move to a 3way setup with a small mid to keep the KP tiny.

I'm a big guy, so kick panels never sound good in my cars( my girth blocks most of the sound), i have found that door speakers with a time delay unit takes care of the imaging problems well enough for me. If you are a high end SQ guy, then you'll definitely want to experiment. I like my cars to sound like a nightclub or concert hall and I like the sound bright and bass heavy for most of my music, but it also has to be able to play the soft easy listening stuff without irritating me. My musical tastes runs from opera to disco to heavy metal to foreign languages to techno, reggae, calypso and bollywood(since I'm West Indian). The point is, it has to play everything very well.
