I'd recommend listening to some Boston Acoustics components. The SX and SL series are in your price range. As far as subwoofers go, what is your budget? How much space do you have for a sub and how are you planning to install it?

i have decided to replace my midgate with a box, so it can be as big as it needs to be. im not looking at taking up my whole bed with a box. im a plumber and need to carry tools and sometimes pipe in the bed.
fyi: the midgate is the part of the truck that opens behind the rear seats from the cabin to the bed. its how the avalanche changes from a suv to a truck. check http://www.chevrolet.com/pop/avalanche/2008/midgate_en.jsp for more info.
i have yet to set a budget for the subs but im thinking something around $600-$700 for subs. im not looking to go into any competitions or anything and SQ is more important to me than spl, but being able to go loud if i want is a must. what im trying to say is im willing to forgo db's for quality.
as for Boston's do u know of any retailers i can go and have a listen? im open to hear every speaker made if i must to make the right choice (exageration). just cheched and u are in Saskatoon so u prob dont know any retailers here in T.O.

thnx

I don't know of any retailers out there I just thought Boston fits nicely within your budget. For subs if you want good sound that can get loud also check out some Boston G2s or G5s. The Polk SR lineup is also amazing (read the PAS mag review of the SR 10). Both are excellent companies.

found a few shops in Mississauga to go check out this past Sat. got to listen to Focal, Boston, Morel, and Hertz and a few others.. i gotta say the Boston, Hertz and Focals were all great sounding speakers! The focals (K2-KF165)which i heard side by side with the hertz (HSK-165)stood out the most. bass responce was amazing and surprising. at first i thought the guy had the subs on and i asked him to turn them off, hehe.. then i made sure he had the deck settings flat, it was! WOW! u have to ask though, are they worth the price tag they come with? i would love to hear the Focals, Hertz, and Boston's side by side to hear the differance between all three. funny though the hrtz and focals tonaly sounded damn close to one another. the hertz on the other hand seemed to be more controled and cleaner. maybe it was just me though!
i happen to have a co-worker who just retired to day and is going to Italy (hi home land) this friday for a month vacation, and will check if he can get the speakers there for m cheaper than here. im hoping to get the MLK-165 for less than the HSK-165. who knows, its a waiting game now. if i come across a great deal here for used focals or hertz i will prob jump on it.
i did hear from one of the shops that the focals get really loose after break-in (no excusion resistance). the shop is a Audison/Hertz dealer, but he did state that he carried and installed everything out there at one time or another but the Hertz were the best!
is this true?
is it bad if it is?

now im stuck
CDT, Hertz, or Focal
where did the CDT come from u ask? hehe, everywhere i go they seem to pop up. nothing but great reviews too. have yet to find a dealer so im on the fence about them.
Give some input guys, please. Focal fans please stand and be counted (are they worth the $)
