2002. Yes, there are bags in the pillars.

No upper door speaker as the tweet is in the sail panel and the 2.5" mid is at the very front corner of the dash. The last driver is mid way up the door at the front.

I could be wrong, but I think the a-pillar bags pop out to fall down the side front windows. So one just has to ensure that that movement is not restricted.
