Hi, I'm going to buy a Chevy S10 and I would like to install a good sound system.

Note that I"m ready to invest about 800 dollars for it. I'm looking for a subwoofer, amp and speakers. I already own this audio panel :
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10099757&atab=&spvi ewed=&newlang=EN&logon=&langid=FR

My questions are :

Wich brand should I look forward to?
Wich size? (I know that a 400w amp is fair enough)
Where should I get them? Prize vs quality. (I live in Quebec)

Thanks a lot for your answers,
Mo.

I wouldn't set yourself to a single brand. Car audio is pretty interchangeable so your entire systems doesn't have to be a single brand name, unless that is the route you really want to go.

If your installing in a truck I you might want to give special consideration to buying a shallow mount sub which will make box building and installation much easier. Many companies offer these types of woofers.

As for the the size of the sub, that is usually just personal preference, but if it was me I would go with a single 15" in a well designed box if you have the room. I would also recommend building your own box, as opposed to purchasing a pre-fab one. The difference will be significant and they are cheap and easy to construct with some help from some of the forum members.

Where to buy? I recommend that you check out some of the site sponsors or check in the classifieds of the site. Used equipment is a great way to go because you will be able to buy better gear for cheaper.

Hope that helps and good luck

Thanks alot for the tips, I shall look for a 15" and ill follow a guide to make my own sub box.

So the brand dont really matter? or theres some brand I should avoid at all cost?

Would you recommend 2 10" woofer instead of 1 15"?

I will check the sponsors site aswell as Ebay.

2 10"= 1 12"
2 12"= 1 15"

just to let you know that 2 10" does not equal 1 15"

as of cheap brands dont go at wal mart or canadian tire and you will be fine

I would go with a 15" but that is my choice. It will be able to produce notes lower than a 10 or 12. 15"'s kick ass. Haha. For subwoofers I would check out Fi Audio I have a Q series and I love it. Great subs at amazing prices.

What kind of sound are you looking for? Are you looking for a ground pounder so that other people can hear your car? Or would you like to hear a system that provides the entire spectrum of sound? Do you want to start with $800 now to get yourself started and spend more money in the future to improve your set-up?
Once you fill in these blanks, then advice could follow.
