Hi guys,

I was helping a buddy install 6x9's in the back of his Volvo 240. When the balance is centered, the bass seems to be cancelling out. It just occured to me now that one of the speakers are out of phase, explaining the symptom.

Another issue we ran into was right after finishing the speaker install, we were starving so we rushed to wire up the amp, we plugged power wire into the ground, and when we touched the power wire to the amp, it sparked. Careless, I know......I wanted to leave the wiring for after we were done eating, but hey, he just popped in the wire. (careless, I know, but it was an honest mistake)

The amplifier does not turn on now. I'm hoping we blew a replaceable fuse or something. Any ideas? It is an Infinity Reference 2-channel amp btw. Monster size, no power, old school lol.

One more thing while I'm at it, there's a bit of open space near the edge of the 6x9 speakers, I wanted to ensure a decent seal for better quality sound, what do you guys suggest to fill in the holes. I'm thinking thin wood plates and hot glue.

Thanks very much, I remember using this forum ages ago when I was doing my install in the 240sx. The system's running great since then no problems, I just hate burning mp3 cd's, 120 songs is not enough. lol

Nevermind guys, we got everything working great. One of the rear speakers was out of phase and we replaced the 30A fuse on the amplifier.
