I am thinking about installing 6x9's into the back of my car... the only thing is that my car takes 6.5" speakers in the rear that are mounted into a plastic speaker mount that is installed ontop of the rear deck in my car thus this leaves me no room to install a speaker thats any more then 2" deep without it looking like sheit since the trunk lid torsion bars ar, so I am curious if anyone knows of a car that uses a speaker mount that is installed ontop of the rear deck in the car.... I will be going to the wreckers this week and well if I knew of a car that had this style mount it would save me a hellova lot of time.... thanks if anyone can help me out! I need the mounts not just the covers that cover the speaker... this might be a hard find.... may endup just making something but would like to keep it looking clean with something factory looking.....

Most car audio stores sell boxes for 6x9's. Usually they're charcol grey, covered in a carpet or felt. You can cut the box down to any size you want. In one of my old cars, i didn't have enough depth for the speakers. I bought boxes, cut the back completely off and used only the front face of the box. When i was finished, i had about 1/4" on the front and about 2-1/2" at the back, so the speakers were angled forward.
Then you tint the rear window so you can't see it from outside. Note that tint scratches really easily if its tinted before you start working in the rear window.
Good Luck.

or buy some 3/4" mdf take out the plastic molds and maek your own mounts. Just double up the mdf to get the clearence you need and cut the hole for your speaker. Throw some screws through it to hold them still and your done!

put some matchign carpet on it or whatever you want to hide them!

you can still get a decent factory look with mdf as long as you cover it proporly !

also if the back deck is metal you can always take a dremel to it and make some more clearence for yoruselves. or if its those stuiped torsion bars are in teh way buy buy a pair of 20 doller gas shocks( or junk yard for cheaper!) and get rid of those bars all together. !
